Truly a rare Designer set by Sergio Orozco… Vintage 1980s Nulco Bird of Paradise Candlesticks in Brass, Crystal and Marble as shown. Magnificent presence, with a design that fits any decor… And a strikingly spectacular set for a wedding centerpiece… Mid Century Modern, Danish, Eames Era… Each measures appx 18.5 H… The base of each is gorgeous black, heavy marble with a small amount of white veining… The base is graduated up three tiers to the brass candle column foot… Measuring 6.5″ square, then 4.5″ to 3.5 square… The brass foot of the column is 2.75 square. The mid column is 1″ diameter, all brass and is appx 8″ high without the bird section. The design of the birds is superb and the brass sparkles with intricate highlights (not sure how that was accomplished, but, the finish has the wow factor and is fascinating) Images show quite a bit of unavoidable reflection white taking photos… Especially in the mid chests of the birds.. I have found the chandelier and sconces in brass.. But, not the candle sticks… So, if you have the chandelier and/ or the sconces… This is quite the find and if you want to start the set, here are the two rarest pieces Nulco made of the Bird of Paradise. This set has been well cared for… And if desired, could be gently polished to bring back their full splendor… Nothing has been done to these candlesticks other that dusting off, minor wax removal… And will still have a minute bit when delivered for your TLC…. One back/ tail piece was just a bit loose when I found them but was able to carefully tighten into place. The screw protruding from the birds back is designed to move around, but not in and out… I think this was allow some give to prevent chipping to the bored hole for assembly… I have taken all sides of the candle sticks for your viewing… Both candle sticks have their original felted bottoms in great shape… Each Bird is appx 6.5″ H with an attached (and easily to remove for cleaning/ polishing) glass crystal back and tail piece that measures 13″ L and 3″ wide, these are very thick, solid excellent crystal varying by the design from 1-2″ thick…. The crystal glass is perfect on each, as are the top sitting square glass crystal wax guards that go on to the actual candle holders at the top (measure 3.75 square).
