Pair of Vintage Sterling Silver Candlesticks. These impressive candlesticks are made from sterling silver although the bases and stems have been filled to provide weight and stability. The large sconces will accommodate candles of up to 2.5cm (1) in diameter but are not removable. The top of the sconces and shoulders have decorative bands, the stems are tapered and the bases have a line of beaded decoration to the tops. The undersides are covered in green baize. Each stick is hallmarked to the foot for Sheffield 1973 with the makers mark of A. These sticks are in lovely condition and stand nice and vertical. However, after 44 years, there are a few things to bring to your attention. The most noticeable affect the foot of one stick which has two dents along the bottom edge and a small dent to the top of the foot. Other than this, there are some tiny nicks around the inner edges of the sconces and one or two fine scratches. One sconce as a tiny dint to the outer edge. One stem has a pinhead dint to near the top and the other a similar dint half way down. The outer edges of both feet do have some small dints. The baize underneath is secure but there is quite a lot of staining caused by silver polish. Please be aware that there will be tiny surface abrasions and marks after all these years but no deep scratches.
