8-3/8″ and 8-5/8″ tall, 4″ wide at the base and 5″ long crystals. These amazing antique mantel lustres likely date to the late 19th or early 20th century and are complete. Made of handblown, opaline robin’s egg blue glass, the tapered stems are hollow and the edges at the top are ruffled. Each one has eight long, faceted 2-piece crystals or lustres that dangle from the bowl of the lamp. The bowls and the bases and bowls were decorated with gilt highlights but these have worn with age and are rubbed and faint now. On the underside you can see a pontil mark on both bases. The crystal lustres are removable for cleaning. As you can see from the photos, the metal armatures that hold the lustres to the bowls are permanently attached. One is 1/4 taller than the other although they look identical when placed on a mantel. This highlights that they are hand-crafted, individual works of art. Their excellent condition is notable for their age, no cracks or chips and all crystals are original and intact. Please examine all of the photos carefully as they form part of the condition.
