Pair of Vintage Ercol Candlestick Dining Chairs, Model No. Ercol are an iconic British furniture company started by Lucian Ercolani, an Italian immigrant and Cabinet Maker in the 1930’s. They are known for their elegant sleek designs and use of quality conditioned timbers such as Beech, Ash and Elm. Some of their designs from their heyday in the 1960’s and 70’s are today highly sought after and collectable. The company have produced many of the iconic pieces of retro mid Century furniture and are still family-operated today. This is a set of Ercol Model No. 376 Windsor dining chairs, otherwise known as’Candlesticks’. This now iconic design was launched by Ercol in 1957. The chair features a curved backrest held up by four pairs of criss-crossing spindles, all in beech, beech legs with a double cross-stick stretcher between and the traditional elm seat base. Height, from floor to seat: 42 cm. The chairs are in very good condition overall. Structurally solid with no loose joints or wobbles. The chairs have been fully sanded and re-finished. A couple of minor signs of use remain, but this is very minor. One chair has had some water damage to the bottom of one leg. Whilst looking better, the mark could not totally be removed. This can be seen in the final photo. Please look closely at the photos as they accurately reflect the condition of these chairs. Overall a great pair. Viewings of the chairs are available and recommended. Please check our other listings for more vintage Ercol items.
