Vintage Brass Candlestick Telephone Working. Difficult to date exactly, most early 1920s candlestick telephones were painted black this is definitely a bit later. This is not a modern reproduction and has its original GPO rotary dial with the typical alpha numerical dial plate popular in the 1950s. Nearly all of these old brass telephones have a letter and number dial, most reproduction telephones only have numbers on the dial. This telephone never rang originally , in fact no telephone rang until after 1945, it was the bell box that rang, not the telephone. This would have had a mahogany bell box originally mounted on the wall. Was a feature of my antique shop in the early 1990s but in my loft for last 30 years (and still working).
