ESHELMAN Pair Wood Hand Turned Candlesticks Candle Holders Rohrerstown, Pa. These great lathe-turned candlesticks are made by the master of the lathe and award-winning craft legend PAUL ESHELMAN. 8 high with a 6 base. Top measures 1 ½ round with a 7/8 opening for candle. These are a matching set but not exactly alike as they are hand turned. Both are signed on the bottom and are in very good vintage condition. One has a dark circle on the bottom (residual glue from sticker). There are no dents or scratches. Professor in the Industrial Arts Department at Millersville State College and. Part of the first-generation studio woodworkers who sought to find artistic expression in simple, utilitarian objects. He was considered a master of form and graceful execution. Along with Wharton Esherick, James Prestini, and Bob Stocksdale, Eshelman represented the United States for wood crafts at the 1958 Worlds Fair in Brussels. Also, in 1964 he was included in the ground-breaking “The American Craftsmen” show at the American Pavilion at the Brussels World’s Fair.
